Syracuse’s Bishop Grimes Junior Senior High School and Bishop Ludden Junior Senior High School will be consolidated into one school at the Bishop Ludden campus beginning next fall, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse confirmed Thursday afternoon.
"This decision was not made lightly. Faced with the reality of increasing costs and declining enrollment in all schools across New York State, it has become imperative that we make a change to ensure a vibrant and thriving Catholic educational experience for our students for years to come," the diocese's Catholc Schools Office said in a letter to staff, students and the community. "Ultimately, it was determined that consolidating our resouces and talents into one building is the most effective way to achieve this goal."
According to the diocese’s website, all currently enrolled students will continue their education within the consolidated high school at the Bishop Ludden campus. Bishop Grimes students will be transferred automatically to the new school. Financial aid and student records will follow Bishop Grimes students as well. Students do not need to reapply for aid.
Current Bishop Ludden students do not need to take any additional steps, the website said.
The diocese said more information will be provided about the transition in the weeks and months to come.
