An additional 40 pop-up COVID-19 vaccination sites will be deployed across the state, with some set to open as soon as as Saturday, Gov. Kathy Hochul's office announced Friday.

The new sites are aimed to fight the winter surge of COVID-19. The state recorded a record number of new cases in a single day on Friday.

"I am urging everyone to get fully vaccinated and boosted now, ahead of the holidays, as it is our best defense against the virus and its variants," said state Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett. "By making a plan to visit one of these Pop-Ups that is convenient for you and your family, you are helping to keep your family and all New Yorkers safe. Remember, we should all prepare for the holidays by doing everything we can to keep the most vulnerable in our families and communities safe."

The following counties will host vaccination events in the coming weeks and here's what they are offering:

Allegany County
