Partly cloudy, warm and muggy tonight with lows in the low to mid 70s. An isolated shower will be possible late.

Friday will be hot and very muggy with partly sunny skies and highs in the low 90s. A few spotty showers are possible early followed by scattered showers and storms later in the day and into the evening. In between, much of the day will be dry with oppressively hot heat index temps around and into the lower 100s. Saturday will be hotter with heat indices from 100 to 100.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for much of our region from noon Friday through 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Heat Safety Tips:

Dress in light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.

Stay hydrated with water and take breaks preferably in air-conditioned places.

If you don’t have A/C, hit up the malls or take in a movie if possible. Temps inside cars can become lethal within minutes.

A few hit and miss thundershowers will be possible Saturday afternoon and evening.

Temps come down for Sunday but it will still be uncomfortably warm and muggy with showers and storms looking likely.

Cooler and much less humid air will arrive on Monday and stick around throughout next week the way it looks right now with highs most days in the 70s.
