ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Christmas came a little early for Denita McCullough and her niece Ny'Kira Hall, thanks to Lindsay McCutchen and her “elves.”

McCullough has been taking care of her three-year-old niece for two years after she suffered brain damage when her father assaulted her. When McCullough first took Ny'Kira in, she didn’t have a car.

Ny'Kira is in pre-school now and McCullough had access to a vehicle, but it wasn’t wheelchair accessible, making it hard to take Ny'Kira to appointments.

McCutchen first learned of McCullough and Ny'Kira through a story she saw on Facebook.

“My heart ached for this family,” she said. She talked to her employees at Career Start, an employment agency, and they decided to forego a holiday party, bonuses and vendor gifts to provide something greater.

Together they were able to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van for Ny'Kira and McCullough.

“I just want to thank everybody.  I thank everyone from the beginning who's been in her life.  And I know God sent an angel in this couple here. I appreciate you," McCullough said.

McCutchen is hoping that things just don't end here with the gift of this van. She's hoping others will see this and feel inspired to do the same.
