ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Despite the recent cold weather, the lilacs at Highland Park in Rochester are pushing through and starting to bloom.
The Lilac Festival begins on May 6, just two weeks from this Friday.
Tents are already being put up for the event, which is expected to draw tens of thousands of people for music, art and of course the food and craft beer events.
The festival is one of many in the area that was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Traditionally, the Lilac Festival has been an event that lasts more than a week. After being canceled in 2020 it returned for 2021 with an adjusted schedule of three separate weekends.
That format continues for 2022, but with more of the familiar components that may have been absent last year.
