CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — It’s starting to look like winter outside, and for many people that means it’s skiing and snowboarding season.
For those planning on visiting Bristol Mountain, expect some changes.
One of those new changes is new technology on the lifts. It lets guests leave their lift pass in a jacket pocket, getting them on the slopes quicker.
“These antennas will actually read the pass,” Bristol Mountain vice president Steven Fuller said. "So as skiers and snowboarders come up, it will read the pass in the jacket and the gates open.”
The passes can also be reloaded at home, reducing lines at ticket counters. Its something staff worked to do during the pandemic.
Snow isn’t the only thing being made on the mountain. A new experience center will open later this season. It’s a one stop shop for people looking to pick up skiing or snowboarding.
“They come in and have equipment right there,” Fuller said. “You can meet your instructor and walk right out to the beginner area.”
The slopes aren’t ready for people yet; the snow guns are only able to make snow on the top half of the mountain right now. But staff are optimistic the season can start soon with the cold weather sticking around
“This time of year, we all get excited," Fuller said. "Not just the guests but staff too. There’s a lot of excitement, buzz in the atmosphere.”
