ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester’s most prestigious garage sale is back after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The Art & Treasures Sale at the Memorial Art Gallery on University Avenue opens Thursday with a special $15 preview night for the four-day sale.

It's a great time to re-home, repurpose and support the MAG. There are a lot of good finds to be had at the Art & Treasures Sale, from fine art, china, pottery, porcelain, silver, fine linens, housewares, books, wearable art and small furniture.

"This is pretty well organized here. We have a wonderful team of volunteers," said Bonnie Voll, the Gallery Council board president. "There are so many beautiful items for sale here."

This annual fundraiser is put together by the Gallery Council that's spent 80 years supporting the arts. This group of Memorial Art Gallery enthusiasts has raised more than $4 million to help support art, conservation, scholarships and MAG exhibits.

"We couldn’t do it without our volunteers and of course we couldn't do it without our wonderful donors," said Voll. "The sale has been going on since the mid to late '70s, and I have been involved with it since 2006."

Voll says Wegmans donated food for all the volunteers and Champion Moving and Storage helped store, load, move and unpack all the items for sale.

Preview Night is Thursday from 5-7 p.m. It is a $15 advance ticket event. The sale continues Friday from 11 p.m.−5 p.m., Saturday from 11 p.m.−5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.−2 p.m. It's free admission from Friday-Sunday.

The Memorial Art Gallery is located at 500 University Avenue in Rochester.
