HENRIETTA, N.Y. — Imagine RIT returns 100% virtual this year.
Saturday’s event is a free online experience and a chance for RIT to show off its creative and innovative students and faculty. The online festival will also include RIT’s international campuses in Croatia, Kosovo, Dubai and China.
"This year, we have such a broader reach globally, and we are very, very grateful to have that. There are 30 different areas of study that students participate in," said Ann Miller, director of Imagine RIT and special events.
There’s no shortage of creativity and innovation at RIT. There will be more than 250 exhibits of projects by RIT faculty, students and staff as part of this year‘s virtual Imagine RIT event.
Megan Britt is a graduating industrial engineer major from Fairport who helped design a 3D printer that uses concrete instead of plastic. The team says it’s cheaper to use. She attended Imagine RIT when she was a child and says it definitely had an impact on her future.
"Now being a senior and working a full year with my amazing team and creating this concrete printer, it just feels like I can accomplish anything at this point,” said Britt.
Jason Streeter is a new media design major from Albany. His team wants all of us to make a wish on a shooting star on their app called Wishful.
“We have been working on this for six months,” said Streeter. “It is a virtual wishing well. This year has been a little bit hectic, so it allows people to think about what they’re wishing for and what they’re looking forward to, and it gives them a chance to connect with other people as well and see what they’ve been wishing for.”
Imagine RIT is Saturday May 1 at 10 a.m. at RIT.edu/imagine.
