The Town of Greece is getting a jumpstart to the canoe and kayak season. The public kayak launch is already installed at Braddock Bay Park near Westpoint Marina on East Manitou Road. It is free to use.

What You Need To Know

  • The public kayak launch is located in Braddock Bay Park next to Westpoint Marina

  • The launch is free to use from dawn to dusk

  • Braddock Bay Park on East Manitou Road is 375 acres and is one of Greece's largest parks

The dock installation is about a month ahead of schedule. Peter O’Brien, director of Greece Parks and Recreation, says there are a few more improvements this year to the public kayak launch area including more paved parking. The design of the kayak launch makes it super easy to get you and your kayak or canoe in and out of Braddock Bay to explore the water, explore nature and go for a paddle.

“It is beautiful and we think Braddock Bay was rediscovered last year because of COVID," said O'Brien. "There are a lot of people outdoors doing things. We just made a commitment this year to try to get it in as early as possible knowing that we have had a few nice days here and there and that people would like to take advantage of it. We saw a window of opportunity so we put it in the water. We are fortunate to have this dock so that anybody of any ability could feasibly use it and get out and see all the waterways and Greece."

The kayak launch is located in just one section of the towns 375 acres of Braddock Bay Park that is part of the state’s 3,000 acre Braddock Bay Fish and Wildlife Management Area. There are trails, excellent bird watching and of course great paddling to enjoy. The public kayak launch is open dawn to dusk now until October.
