The city of Rochester has free swimming lessons available for kids.
The city's Bureau of Recreation wants to help as many kids as possible learn to swim this summer.
The Summer Swim Academy has free swim lessons for kids ages 6-17. There are two sessions available; July 6-30 and August 3-20. The youth swim lessons take place at the Genesee Valley Park pool, Adams Street pool, and the Trenton and Pamela Jackson R-Center.
"We are doing our best to follow all of the guidelines of reopening and also keeping in mind that families and children especially want to get outdoors and need to get outdoors and need to be able to have an opportunity to swim and enjoy the weather and the summer," said Daniele Lyman-Torres, the commissioner of the Rochester Department of Recreation.
Swim lesson registration is first-come, first-served. Class sizes are limited. Registration is available at all three swim lesson pool locations. Call (585) 428-7888 for more information.
