HoopsStrength, a new basketball training, and skill development center, is up and running in Henrietta.

"I am extremely excited. Excited for us to meet a lot of new kids and give a lot more opportunities to players who love the game of basketball," said Matt Jones of HoopStrength.

Jones, a St. John Fisher Basketball Hall of Fame player, is feeling much more at home these days. Phase 4 in the New York Pause means the "a-okay" for one-on-one and small group basketball skills training at his brand new facility.

"We are looking for basketball players that have goals and we want to help them reach their goals. For some of those kids it is to play college basketball, for some of those it is to make their varsity basketball team or break into the starting lineup," Jones said.

HoopsStrength uses state-of-the-art equipment and has strength and conditioning training to help get players in top shape.

"If they want to go play college basketball the best compliment we get is when a freshman comes back and says, 'I was way ahead of the other freshman coming in'," Jones added.

For a lot of the players, it's their first time on a basketball court since March. Davijon Lipicomb will be a freshman at Bishop Kearney. He plans on training here twice a week.

"I need to work on my handles and make my shot better. I want to go D1 and now that I am coming to HoopsStrength it is getting better," said Lipicomb.

"We have great trainers, a great facility and we have the technology so I think i makes this one of a kind," said Jones.

HoopsStrength has different training options and coaching sessions to choose from. It's located at Frontier Commons on Jefferson Road in Henrietta.
