Former Rochester Red Wing Joe Mauer was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown on Sunday.
The catcher played with the team for five games in 2004, the same year he entered the majors, and again for three games in 2018 while on an injury rehab assignment.
The lefty hitter played 15 years for the Minnesota Twins, hitting .306 for his career with 2,123 hits. Mauer was a six-time American League All-Star, led the league in batting average three times, won three Gold Gloves and was named the 2009 A.L. Most Valuable Player.
Mauer is the first former Red Wings player to be enshrined into Cooperstown since Mike Mussina was inducted in 2019.
