Flower City Union announced its new women's team, Flower City 1872.
The crest and namesake honor Susan B. Anthony.
In 1872, Anthony and other Rochester women voted in a federal election in a groundbreaking case for voting rights.
The team will play in the United Women's Soccer League and share the Rochester Community Sports Complex with the men’s team.
"Having soccer as an outlet, not only for the youth, but also for everyone in the community, it’s something to do on the weekend and it’s also something to be proud about,” Flower City Union general manager Andrew Hoyt said.
Many games will be back-to-back with the women's team, allowing fans to watch two games with one ticket.
