ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A former Rochester Red Wings and Minnesota Twins standout and a longtime sports beat writer were inducted into the Rochester Red Wings Hall of Fame Tuesday night.

Jim Mandelaro and Justin Morneau are now part of Rochester baseball history.

Morneau spent his early playing days with the Wings before spending 11 seasons with the Minnesota Twins, where he was the 2006 American League Most Valuable Player and a four-time All-Star.

Mandelaro covered the team for years for the Democrat & Chronicle.

The Red Wings Hall of Fame was established in 1989 and recognizes individuals who made unique contributions, both on and off the field, to the history of professional baseball in Rochester. The plaques that honor each person are displayed on the first base side of the Frontier Field concourse.
