ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The new training facility for the Professional Basketball Association's Rochester Razorsharks also has court time available for the public to rent. The facility, Fast Break Sports, is on Lincoln Avenue in Rochester‘s 19th Ward.

Fast Break Sports is 20,000 square feet of space. Owner Jen Moore says it is about affordable, accessible, and safe play for all ages. Moore says when the Razorsharks aren't practicing two to three nights a week, the two courts are available to rent per hour. You can also rent the entire space for any sport or private party.

“It’s sort of morphed into what's always the tagline with the Razorsharks is that it is bigger than basketball," said Moore. "We’ve been doing some private scrimmages and what not, hoping for the spring and summer season that we are planning on with the Professional Basketball Association. We’ve been hearing the needs of the community and responding accordingly."

There is open gym time Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $5. The NBA-sized court is available for $50 an hour and the high school court is $40 an hour.

"We have become a safe space for city youth and young adults, so we are open basically 24/7. If someone wants to rent us and come in here and do something positive and productive and getting endorphins and playing basketball, then it is important to meet the needs of the community. There are a lot of them,” said Moore.

Moore considers this Phase 1 of Fast Break Sports. She says there is more to come, including an art collaboration to fill the walls of the facility with Rochester-inspired artwork, a van to help kids to and from the facility, and a new non-profit, Home Court Advantage. The Moores are busy. This summer, they also acquired another basketball team, the Buffalo Blaze.
