Local college football players continue to train with the hope of making it to the NFL. But multiple schools have called off their annual pro days where prospects showcase their talents to NFL scouts.

"It was a little frustrating because I came back home to train a little bit before I had my pro day at Rutgers and that got cancelled. Then my conference pro day got cancelled,” said Bishop Kearney grad JoJo Gause.

"I just take it as more time to train more time to get better obviously I would've loved to have had that pro day,” said Aquinas grad Jamir Jones.

Jones played defensive end for Notre Dame, while Gause was a wide receiver at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Both train at Pursuit Performance under the watchful eye of Bruce Johnson. The former University of Maine center out of Gates-Chili played a pair of NFL preseason games in 2016. He understands the importance of pro day workouts.

"For me it was just trying to figure out a way to still get that film out, send it to their agents and then send it to all the teams. We have every piece of equipment that we could possibly need to run a pro day,” said Johnson.

Gause and Jones will get their chance to shine Saturday, April 4 at the Irondequoit Sports Center.

They'll be joined by Maine wide receiver and Aquinas grad Earnest Edwards along with Dartmouth quarterback and Rush-Henrietta grad Jared Gerbino.

"I'm confident in myself," said Jones. “I'll just be relieved that I will just get it over with."

"I'm not going to say I won't have nerves but I'm excited. I'm more excited than nervous,” said Gause.

The NFL Draft is still scheduled to take place from April 23-25.
