ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A deal between the Rocheser Red Wings and Monroe County must be done by March 1st or the International League says it will move forward with plans to have the team play elsewhere this season.

In a letter dated Tuesday February 6th, league president Randy Mobley laid out three provisions he says must get done by the start of next month or the league will move the Wings to another city for the upcoming season.

Those requirements Mobley says must be met are: A proposed and agreed upon lease for this season and beyond, documentation signed by both the county and team agreeing to the lease and a signed document by the county saying Frontier Field will be available to the Wings in an uninterrupted manner.

This is just the latest development in an ongoing dispute between the two parties on the terms of a new lease agreement at Frontier.

The county and the Wings stood shoulder-to-shoulder back in August and announced a new deal, but it was down hill from there.

Both sides have pointed the preverbial finger at one another saying it altered the terms of the agreement.

Part of the negotiations center on who will pay for $6 million in upgrades to the facility.

Opening day is set for April 6th.

Both the county and Wings issued statements in response to the league's deadline.

A county spokesman said:

"We are pleased the International League has acknowledged that it is vital for the two parties to have a new long-term lease in place before the start of the baseball season. County Executive Dinolfo is meeting directly with team officials today to advance the negotiations towards a positive resolution."

Red Wings President Naomi Silver responded by saying:

"At this moment, we are very hopeful that it will not be necessary to sign a one-year lease to allow us to stay at Frontier Field, and that the County Executive and the County Legislature will do what is necessary to ensure a 10-year lease with the option for a 10-year renewal."
