The Rochester area is in the path of totality for the 2024 solar eclipse on April 8.
At around 2:07 p.m., the moon will begin to move in front of the sun. The eclipse will progress to totality at 3:20 p.m. when the sun will be completely blocked by the moon and darkness falls on the area. That will last for 3 minutes and 38 seconds. Gradually, the moon will continue to move past the sun, a process that will be complete by around 4:33 p.m., and light will return to normal.
The event has been highly anticipated since it has not happened for 100 years and will not happen here again for more than 100 years.
