Cayuga County is under a flood warning Thursday, as the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services says ice jams are possible around Central New York and the Southern Tier as temperatures have risen this week.
In the wake of an ice jam in Cayuga County, DHSES officials are advising people to avoid any flooded areas. They also shared tips for safety:
- Know your risk and have a plan
- Have an emergency kit
- Follow local officials' instructions
- Never drive through flood waters
