Hope remained high for the Ovid Federated Church Saturday afternoon as residents, employees and members gathered at a joint prayer.

This comes following a devastating fire that took place on the village's Main Street last month that saw more than 200 firefighters working nine hours or more to get the fire under control. Eleven residences and six businesses were impacted.

The service allowed those who have been impacted to have a space to reflect, share memories and come together as a community to lean on each other for support.

“Talking about all the good memories and what a focus that main block was for the community and all the different things that happened there," said Sue Cirencione, owner of the Big M supermarket. "There's so many generations have lived through. And just it's also an opportunity for people to have strength and hope that we're going to rebuild.

The Ovid Fire Department is working diligently with the Seneca County Emergency Management Office to compile information and review how to move forward.

Community members are also continuing to accept donations and assist the property owners with the recovery of anything that they can find of importance as well as streamline the debris removal and clean up efforts.
