UPDATE 11/15/24:
Rochester Gas and Election released this statement after conducting an investigation:
ORIGINAL STORY:
Fire investigators continue to look into the source of a house explosion on Stone Road in Greece on Monday morning that sent three people to the hospital.
The Barnard Fire District says three people, a female in her 20s and her two parents, were in the home at the time of the blast and were taken to an area hospital. The department says the parents are listed as stable and the daughter is in guarded condition.
Neighbors were also shaken awake by the explosion just before 5 a.m. Officials say the home was leveled and those nearby homes were damaged, but no one else in the neighborhood was displaced.
The incident required personnel from Barnard, Ridge Road, North Greece and Lakeshore fire districts, as well as Greece Police and Monroe Ambulance, to respond to the scene for help.
"The explosion has shaken the local community, and our hearts go out to those affected by this tragic event," the Barnard Fire District said in a statement. "We are working closely with Greece Police and Fire investigators from Monroe County Fire Bureau to understand what caused this devastating incident."
Rochester Gas and Electric also responded to the explosion and said Monday that it was working with the fire and town officials as they try to determine the cause of the incident.
The Barnard Fire District announced that the Red Cross will be helping with housing assistance for those injured, once they are released from the hospital, along with the residents of the homes next to the explosion.
