Irondequoit police are releasing more information about a homicide investigation involving multiple victims that were discovered following a house fire.

According to the department, the deceased were a family of four. They have been identified as Fraime Ubaldo, 30, Marangely Moreno-Santiago, 26, Evangeline Ubaldo-Moreno, 4, and Sebastian Ubaldo-Moreno, 2.

Police and firefighters responded to the home at 329 Knapp Avenue shortly before 5:30 a.m. Saturday. The fire was quickly brought under control, police say, and the home was searched. That's when the bodies of the four victims were discovered in the basement, according to investigators.

Police did not reveal how the individuals were killed, but they say due to the condition of the bodies, it was clear that this was a homicide. It took almost two full days to process the scene because of the nature of what took place.

"This was a horrific scene," said Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters. "In almost 13 years of doing this job, I've never seen anything like it."

Chief Peters says there is a volume of evidence, but they are not releasing much information as to avoid compromising the investigation. The chief says they have some good leads right now.

"The fire did not help, but it didn't hinder us," Peters said. "We wanted to make sure that we went floor to floor and didn't miss any piece of information that needed to be collected to ultimately bring these monsters to justice. That's all I can tell you. For what you do to adults is fine, but when you murder innocent children, there's no excuse for it and I have no excuse for some of the things I say and the way I will conduct myself talking about these people."

There is no criminal history with the family. Police say the purchased the home here a few years ago. It's solemn and quiet in this Irondequoit neighborhood where balloons and teddy bears rest at the entranceway of the home.

Anyone who may have information related to this case is asked to call the Irondequoit Police Department at 585-336-6000 or Crimestoppers at 585-423-9300.
