The Wayne County District Attorney's Office and the Clyde Police Department held a news conference on Friday after they say three teenage boys were charged with hazing and sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy in the locker room at Clyde-Savannah High School. They say a fourth teen is charged with recording the alleged abuse.

This follows the district canceling the varsity football team's final game after reported abuse around the end of last month.

Police say the recording made it onto social media, and that's when the victim's parent found out and called officers.

During Friday's news conference, Assistant ADA Christine Callanan reiterated that investigators could not get into specifics, but she did comment on the nature of the allegations.

"The allegations in this case are serious," said Callanan. "These allegations are something that merited an indictment that was returned by the grand jury. These allegations will be prosecuted in the youth part. That, I believe, speaks on its own without going into specifics, without being able to actually talk about the allegations or the facts underlying [them], those allegations are before the court because this incident was of that type of nature that resulted in the grand jury returning that indictment."

A Board of Education meeting earlier this week in the district was called off due to the ongoing investigation, but local police say indictments came down Thursday.

The four suspects range in age from 15 to 17.

Three of them were indicted by a Wayne County Grand Jury on first-degree aggravated sexual abuse (a felony), first-degree hazing (a misdemeanor) and forcible touching (a misdemeanor).

The other teen is charged with two felony counts of unlawful surveillance.

The Clyde-Savannah Central School District released a statement addressing arrests:

"The District has been informed by law enforcement that a number of students have been arrested as a result of their investigation.

It is crucial to emphasize that the district is unable to discuss specific details about student matters or ongoing legal proceedings. Student privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance to us, and we must adhere to legal and ethical guidelines that govern the disclosure of information.

All questions should be directed to law enforcement."

Village police say all four suspects were arraigned in Wayne County Youth Part Court and released to their parents.

An order of protection has been issued for the victim.

All four teens are expected back in court next week.

The Clyde Police Department says it is continuing to investigate.
