Rochester Police say a man wanted in connection with the shooting death of his adult son has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree assault.

Police say shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, Steven Owens, 64, was located and taken into custody without incident by the United States Marshalls Violent Felony Fugitive Task Force inside a home in southwest Rochester.

The RPD says he shot his son, Malcolm Owens, 34, and another victim, a man in his 30s, during an altercation at a home on Pioneer Street Saturday. Police say an investigation revealed Malcolm and the second victim went to the residence on Pioneer Street to visit Steven. During the visit, an altercation occurred at around noon, resulting in the shooting of Malcolm and the second victim.

Malcolm was declared dead at the scene, while the other victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Malcolm, a Rochester native, was visiting the city from his home in Virginia.

Police say Owens will be arraigned in Rochester City Court on Monday at 9:30 am.
