ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The father accused of arranging the kidnapping of his two children from a Greece foster home is facing new charges.
Dimitri Cash and his cousin, Joenathan Cash, are both accused of conspiring to kill Monroe County Family Court Judge Stacey Romeo, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley announced Tuesday. Both Dimitri and Joenathan Cash were both arraigned on second-degree conspiracy charges Tuesday and are alleged to have conspired to commit first-degree murder.
According to the unsealed indictment, Dimitri conducted a background search on Romeo last fall before the kidnapping of his children.
Joenathan is accused of watching the judge’s house in November 2020.
The indictment claims Dimitri used a rideshare service to get to Romeo's house and allegedly walked through her neighborhood to gather more information on her. It also says the two men tried to use Amazon and Google to buy FedEx or postal service uniforms.
The two are already accused of working with Kimara Pluviose to kidnap Dimitri's children on January 18.
Police say Joenathan Cash and Pluvoise allegedly broke into the foster home and tied up the foster mother and children in the home before kidnapping Shekeria Cash, 3, and Dimitri Cash Jr., 5.
Both children were found safe about two days later with Pluviose in Alabama after an AMBER Alert was issued.
The district attorney’s office says following the unsealing of the indictment Tuesday, both Dimitri Cash and Cash were arraigned in front of New York State Supreme Court Justice Argento. Doorley says both defendants are being held without bail with the opportunity to make future bail applications.
On the previous kidnapping indictment, Doorley says Dimitri and Joenathan Cash are currently being held on $150,000 cash, $450,000 bond and $1,000,000 partially secured bond.
The district attorney’s office says both Dimitri and Joenathan Cash are scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 6, 2021 in front of New York State Supreme Court Justice Argento.
