ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police say a woman has died from her injuries after she was attacked with a hatchet over the weekend.

Officers were called to the area of Chili Avenue near West Main Street shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday to assist the Rochester Fire Department with a woman who was bleeding heavily.

When they arrived, they say they found Heather Majors, 47, suffering from injuries she sustained in an attack by suspect with a hatchet. She was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say Majors died on Monday.

Investigators are not releasing any further information but they say it appears the incident was not random attack.
