A New York State Supreme Court judge has temporarily blocked the City of Rochester from releasing police disciplinary records.

An order earlier this year from Governor Cuomo mandated law enforcement agencies statewide make disciplinary files public.

The City of Rochester created a database to do just that, but last week the Locust Club, the union that represents RPD officers, filed suit to keep those records sealed for now, so the union could vet the records and redact personal information.

Now, court documents from December 23 show Judge Ann Tadeo ordered a preliminary injunction, which will keep the city from releasing any officer disciplinary files while the current lawsuit filed proceeds.

A hearing on the matter is scheduled for early February.
