SODUS, N.Y. — A $7.58 million groundbreaking project is now underway in the village of Sodus to protect its homes and businesses from lakeshore flooding.
The Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative Project is intended to protect the Wickham Boulevard and Greig Street area and will include flood mitigation and water quality protection measures, like replacing and adding storm sewers and installing a seawall to protect the area from flooding and erosion.
It will also integrate in public area and recreation improvements.
A $310,000 project at the Sodus Point Beach finished up this month, which included a dune system with vegetative stabilization to reduce flooding and improve the aesthetic value of the beach.
