WEBSTER, N.Y. — Police say a Penfield man accused of hitting a family with his car, killing one person, is facing additional charges.

Max Ward has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death, leaving the scene of an incident resulting in serious physical injury, and two counts of leaving the scene of an incident resulting in personal injury.

Webster police say Ward was driving an SUV that hit several people as they walked along Empire Boulevard in June. The family was on its way to get ice cream.

Oksana Zakharchyshyn, 41, was killed. Her two daughters and grandson were injured.

According to a criminal complaint, Ward was driving distracted and left the scene. He turned himself in several hours later.
