ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The city of Rochester now has a new interim police chief.

Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan was sworn in Wednesday morning.

She took the oath at the Public Safety Building to become the first woman to ever hold the position.

The swearing-in ceremony was shown on the city's Facebook page.

Herriott-Sullivan takes the place of La’Ron Singletary who was ousted during the controversy surrounding the Daniel Prude case.

The new leader of the Rochester Police Department says, despite the turmoil, she is ready for the job.
