When Mayor Lovely Warren knew about the manner of Daniel Prude's death remains at the heart of whether or not city hall in any way covered up what it knew about the case.
On April 10, an email from the deputy mayor's investigation makes reference of that happening months before the date the mayor said she knew about the homicide. It involved the Prude autopsy finding.
Police Chief La'Ron Singletary emailed city communications director Justin Roj, informing him:
"The mayor has been in the loop on such since 3/23. The law department is in the loop. I am just waiting for the mayor to call me back to giver her the update on the medical examiner's ruling."
There is no proof the chief or the mayor ever spoke in person about Prude after that email or that Roj passed the information along.
The mayor suspended Roj this week after the release of the deputy mayor's report.
Ten days ago, the mayor said at a news conference she had not heard the name Daniel Prude from April until August 4 when video of police responding to him was made public by Prude's family.
