Rochester police have made additional arrests following the destruction of city property outside the Public Safety Building during protests on Saturday, May 30.
The Major Crimes Unit identified Andrew Bell, 24, of Rochester, as an individual who broke out several police vehicle windows and took part in flipping a car over. Gary Fitzsimmons, 30, of Rochester, was identified as being a suspect who broke into the Court Exchange Building on Exchange Boulevard and broke several windows.
Police say both men fled the area following the riot. They were tracked down by the Rochester office of the U.S. Marshals Service on Monday and taken into custody in Clarion, Pennsylvania.
Bell is charged with first-degree riot, a felony, and nine counts of second-degree criminal mischief, also felonies. Fitzsimmons has been charged with first-degree riot, second-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies.
Investigators with the Major Crimes Unit also identified Evan Bergeron, 25, of Rochester, as one of the individuals who smashed out police vehicle windows and assisted in flipping over a police car. The Rochester Police Department's Tactical Unit located and arrested Bergeron on Monday. He is charged with first-degree riot and second-degree criminal mischief, both felonies.
Bergeron was taken to the Monroe County Jail and was arraigned in Rochester City Court Monday morning. Bell and Fitzsimmons were remanded to a jail in Clarion, Pennsylvania pending extradition proceedings.
