A Wyoming County man has been charged with criminally negligent homicide following an overdose death.

Jacob Putnam, 29, was arrested on January 11 after a 23-year-old woman was found dead by first responders inside a home on Michigan Road in Arcade.

Through their investigation, sheriff's deputies learned that Putnam had allegedly refused to call 911 when the woman stopped breathing. A third person eventually called for help after driving to the home to help Putnam.

Police said Putnam, who was found to have two active warrants for his arrest, fled the scene on foot as first responders were arriving. He was taken into custody following a search of the area.

According to investigators, Putnam had multiple drugs, drug paraphernalia and an imitation handgun on him at the time of his arrest.

In addition to criminally negligent homicide, Putnam was also charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned in Warsaw Town Court and taken to the Wyoming County Jail without the possibility of bail due to past felony convictions.
