Firefighters are investigating the cause of an explosion that severely damaged a home in Wayne County. 

The explosion happened around 9:45 a.m. at a home on Wilcox Road in Macedon, not far from the ALPCO Recycling center.

According to fire officials at the scene, a propane furnace in the basement exploded. The force of the explosion blew out an exterior wall on the side of the house and windows on the back of the house.

First responders said the woman who was inside the house was not injured.

Firefighters said the incident could be just a freak accident but the exact cause has not yet been determined.
