In Monroe County, an effort to streamline the voter registration process has taken center stage. The Monroe County Board of Elections has set up a booth at the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center on Chestnut Street with the goal of simplifying voter registration for residents.
Whether you're a first-time voter or need to update your registration, the MCBOE is there to provide registration forms and resources, ensuring that every eligible citizen can participate in the democratic process without obstacles.
This year, the new voter registration deadline is Oct. 28, which aligns with the very first day of early voting. For those considering absentee ballots, the deadline is Oct. 23. MCBOE strongly encourages everyone to check their voter registration status on their website to ensure accuracy.
"These are the individuals who are determining our future," said Jackie Ortiz, commissioner of the Monroe County Democratic Board of Elections.
The registration booth is situated at the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center at 161 Chestnut Street. It operates during two time slots on Tuesday from 10 a.m. - noon and again from 1 - 4 p.m. MCBOE representatives will also be available at the Downtown Central Library, making voter registration services even more accessible to the community.
Knowing your designated polling place can help make things much smoother. MCBOE representatives will be on hand to assist individuals in identifying their polling place.
The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
