High water levels on Lake Ontario have prompted the village of Sodus Point to declare a limited state of emergency. 

The village mayor says the lake levels threaten homes, property, and public safety.  

The state of emergency, which will remain in effect for up to 30 days, directs all village departments and agencies to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and to provide emergency assistance wherever needed.
