The Seneca County Sheriff's Office released its annual report this weekend, covering the first year under Sheriff Timothy Thompson.
The agency outlined its accomplishments in 2024, including the launch of its new community outreach and recruitment team.
"The year of 2024 came with many positives as we worked hard to improve our community outreach and connect with those that we serve and protect," Thompson said in the report. "I am proud to say that we created an Honor Guard and a Community Outreach & Recruitment Team. We also held numerous public events that included an Open House, Coffee with your Sheriff’s Office, numerous recruitment events, boater safety classes, and more. In addition, we hosted safety meetings with leadership from both churches and daycare facilities in Seneca County and led active shooter training at area schools. The active shooter threat is constantly on my mind and it is crucially important to be prepared before something bad happens."
Thompson says the agency is still having trouble filling vacant positions in its corrections and patrol divisions.
