ROCHESTER, N.Y. — John Denman never imagined he’d be running a cat cafe. But after some convincing from his wife, Suzanne Peters, The Pawsitive Cat Café is now celebrating two years in business.
That’s not the only milestone John and Suzanne are celebrating. The café has adopted over 200 cats since opening, a milestone they’re expecting to pass.
"Right now, it feels like we’re on pace to triple that. I just posted we adopted our 200th cat, we’re already going to have 221 when this rolls out," said Denman.
As animal shelters in Rochester face overcrowding, the café has become an alternative location for stray cats.
The café keeps around 30 cats at a time, all available for adoption.
Suzanne credits the environment for helping the felines find their forever homes.
"People come to hang out, relax and get coffee. They fall in love with the cat and ask what the adoption process is like," she said.
Even though it’s hard not to fall in love with every cat coming in, John and Suzanne say there’s no better feeling than seeing them leave.
