Southwest Airlines will begin offering nonstop service to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas out of the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport.

This would be the first nonstop service out of Rochester to LAS since 2008.

Flights will be begin Oct. 3 and be offered four times a week to start.

“The Entertainment Capital of the World, America’s Playground, Sin City – however you refer to it, we are thrilled for this new nonstop service to Las Vegas on Southwest Airlines," Monroe County Executive Adam Bello said in a statement. "This has been a goal of the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport for several years, and will provide greater convenience for our residents who enjoy all that Las Vegas has to offer. The addition of nonstop flights to Las Vegas speaks to the strength of the ROC Airport and the Rochester economy. We are grateful for Southwest’s continued growth and investment in the Rochester market, and want to encourage travelers to consider all of the nonstop service the ROC Airport has to offer.

County officials say Rochester is the largest unserved domestic market for Las Vegas and Las Vegas is the second-largest unserved destination out of Rochester.
