Preparations for the solar eclipse on April 8 are continuing throughout Rochester.
The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra is gearing up for their April 7th "Eclipse Spectacular." A day before the eclipse, the Blue Cross Arena will host a space-themed concert including a light show, ballet dancers, troupe vertigo aerialists and a 150-member choir.
"It started out as an idea," said Jeff Tyzik, principal pops conductor for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. "Now sometimes when you have a great idea, there are things that get in the way -- money, facilities, technical things. In this example, this concert, nothing got in the way. We didn't stop. We let nothing get in the way. The ideas just kept flowing and it just got bigger and bigger and bigger."
Popular space-type music will be featured, including Gustav Holst’s planetary pieces, and music from movies like "ET" and "Alien."
