It’s been just about a year and a half since Lynn Mazurkiewicz became a widow when her husband, Rochester Police Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz, was ambushed and gunned down by Kelvin Vickers.
Now, she’s coming forward to talk about both the man she calls a monster, and the man she misses dearly.

Backed by the Rochester Police Department’s Tactical Unit, Lynn Mazurkiewicz faced the cameras on Friday, one day after facing Vickers in court just before he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
"I will tell you that that is what I’ve waited for for all these months, all these months," she said.
During her victim impact statement, Lynn Mazurkiewicz called Vickers a sad excuse for a human, and nothing more than a coward and a monster. She reiterated her feelings before the cameras.
"A monster I saw, day in and day out during court for 3 and a half weeks," she said. "A monster who looked like he could care less each day during the trial and sentencing. He even laughed. This man had no soul."
She described her opportunity to address the court and the killer.
"When I wanted him to know that I was talking directly to him, I was able to look at him," she explained. "I did make eye contact with him. I don’t know what he heard, but he looked. And I hope just one little thing got him. Did I want to hurt him, I’ll be honest, yes, because he’s destroyed me."
Lynn says she will always hold her husband most dear, sharing photos of the family, including Officer Mazurkiewicz’s four children and three grandchildren, saying.
"Our lives will never be the same," she said. "My family is missing one person who meant everything to us. My grandchildren will forever grieve their Papa. My children grieve their father. And I will grieve my husband as I spend the rest of my days alone."
The night her husband passed away, Lynn placed his wedding ring on her finger at the hospital and she has not taken it off since.
She thanked the many people and organizations involved in the investigation, arrest and prosecution of Vickers, and is incredibly thankful for the support of the Rochester Police Department, its union and the tactical unit, which Tony was a part of. She also thanked the Fairport Police Department, the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, the Fairport Community and the community at large.
"I ask that you remember his name. Remember how unjust this murder was. Just remember him. Officer Tony Mazurkiewicz… He was truly a good human being and he will forever be missed," she said.
