For families across the world, today marks 100 days since their lives changed completely.

"We haven’t even imagined that after they were kidnapped we would still be having those individuals in captivity 100 days later," said Sharon Shafrir, head of Volunteer Operations at Bring Them Home Campaign of Rochester.

"I'm going to set my timer for 100 seconds as we observe 100 seconds of silence for the 136 hostages in captivity," Meredith Dragon, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester, added during a demonstration held Sunday to mark 100 days of captivity for hostages of Hamas.

As 136 people remain in captivity as hostages of Hamas, people around the world and across New York state are making sure their names are not forgotten.

"We’re calling our neighbors, we’re calling our communities, we’re calling our leaders. Help get them home now," Shafrir said.

A demonstration was held at one Jewish Community Center in Rochester to remember and to mourn, but also to persevere.

"We are here to join our brothers and sisters, the families of those hostages saying we want them out and we want them released. Bring them home now," she said.

They are working to bring hostages home by calling for help from local, national and international leaders, but also help from people right at home.

"What we can do as individuals, first of all educate ourselves," said Shafrir. "Learn about the situation. Reach out, if you care reach out to your legislators, to your elected officials."

And support one another in their fight.

"Its a moment of on one hand, significant devastation for the families," Shafrir said. "This is also a way for us to say you are not alone. You are part of a big family and we are here for you."

Support that will continue.

"We’ll continue the fight until the last hostage will be set free," she said.
