A number of Rochester-area firefighters are starring in a 2024 calendar and flexing not just their muscles, but also their hearts to help raise thousands of dollars for special needs children and homeless pets.

Firefighters are bringing the heat for sure and baring just the right amount for a series of strong and playful photographs for a 2024 fundraiser calendar.

About a dozen firemen and women are volunteering their time and smiles selling Rochester's Bravest calendars for $20 at the Rochester Public Market. Proceeds from sales of the calendars benefit Holy Childhood School for students with special needs and The Second Hand Dog Rescue.

Rookie firefighter Madi Ball has only on the job a couple of months, but she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help highlight the month of October and raise some money.

Kris Theodorou is a 10-year fire department veteran. It’s his first time in Rochester’s Bravest calendar.

“This year, when I found out that the charity was going to be Holy Childhood, it kind of hit home for me. My brother is an alumni of School of Holy Childhood. If we are able to make money for charities and we always are here to help people and benefit the community, so if we had to take our shirts off to do that, it is what it is,” said Theodorou, IAFF Local 1071.

Firefighter Alex Coffey posed with Theodorou, along with a sweet doggie up for adoption. Every dog in the calendar needs a new, loving home.

“We all volunteered our time to take these photos, and it’s all for a good cause. Why not?” said Coffey, IAFF Local 1071.

The firefighters are famous for a time, and will sign autographs for anyone who purchases a calendar. People seem to appreciate all their hard work, physical fitness and hearts of gold.

Firefighters will be selling the calendars at the Rochester Public Market every weekend until the end of year.
