  • Registration can be completed through the Webster Parks and Recreation

First Assistant Chief Glen Moorehouse is so proud of the West Webster Fire Department. He’s been with the West Webster firefighting family for more than 20 years. The upcoming Citizens Academy is a chance to show it all off to the people they protect.

Participants will be able to explore the equipment, go for a ride on the fire trucks and fire boats and hear all about the history of the West Webster Fire Department.

“We decided, 'hey, let’s reach back out to adults of our community and just have some fun and educate,' which is really what the goal is," he said. "It’s really just to educate them on the fire service in general, West Webster in particular and have a little bit of fun doing it. We are not only super proud of what we do and who we are, but there is a commitment of time and sacrifice that we all make. It gives you the opportunity to get back which is really when you cut through it all, that’s what we do, we just like helping other people.”

Webster residents interested in the West Webster Citizens Academy can register for the program through the Webster Parks and Recreation Department or call (585) 872-7103. The program runs Mondays 7:00-9:00 p.m., Sept. 18 through Oct. 23. Space is limited.
