The Rochester Labor Day Parade is set to kick off at 11 a.m. Monday.

The parade starts at the intersection of East Avenue and Union Street and will feature dozens of unions, community groups, political officials and candidates will participate in the parade.

The Rochester Union of Nurses and Allied Professionals will lead the parade, with the organization’s president and vice president serving as grand marshals.

The city says parking is prohibited along the parade route.

Streets around the parade route will close at 10:30 a.m. and reopen at 1 p.m.

Street closures from the parade are not the only transportation-related news coming out of this Labor Day weekend.

On Friday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on New York state highways will be suspended through Tuesday to ease travel throughout Labor Day weekend.

“From our scenic trails to our world class state parks, New York is home to some of the best places to celebrate Labor Day weekend,” Hochul said in a statement. “We want to make sure that travelers get to their destinations safely and with minimal interruptions, so I encourage all New Yorkers to plan their trip ahead of time and be safe on the roadways to ensure everyone can celebrate the holiday with family and friends.”
