Lollypop Farm is hoping to “clear the shelter” by offering free pet adoptions this week. The team is especially focused on cat adoptions after Humane Society law enforcement seized close to 200 cats from a home in Gates last month.
“[Sasha is] lovely,” said Lindsay Brewer, communications specialist at Lollypop Farm said. “You have to just start petting her."
Sasha is one of 200 cats Lollypop Farm is caring for. Every day volunteers are getting more cats available for adoption.
“So on top of being kitten season already and then nearly 200 cats that we had to take in, our shelter is getting very full with cats,” said Brewer. “They become available each day and once they are adopted we add more. You can see them all at lollypop.org/cats. Even if it looks a little sparse when you look, check again throughout the day because our website refreshes every 30 minutes.”
Volunteers work hard to help families find just the right match. The shelter is busy with cats, dogs, rabbits and other small animals. Free Pet Adoption Week is a great opportunity to adopt a pet in need.
“With that free adoption, everybody is spayed and neutered and microchipped,” Brewer said. “They will have all their vaccines. They are basically good to go.”
So far this week 55 pets have been adopted at Lollypop Farm. Free Pet Adoption Week continues until Saturday, July 15.
