COVID-19 vaccinations will no longer be required for University of Rochester students, faculty and staff, the university announced Tuesday.

The U of R says the decision aligns with the end of the federal COVID public health emergency and after New York state health officials announced last week that the requirement of health care workers receiving the COVID-19 vaccination will end.

According to the university, the vaccine requirement will lift for its health care workers in accordance with Department of Health guidelines when the repeal is final, which U of R says is expected to take place later in June. The requirement will be lifted for the rest of the university community effective June 5.

The university had originally announced a vaccine requirement for students in April 2021 and for staff and faculty in August 2021.

More information can be found on the U of R's website.
