She’s one of the most critically acclaimed actresses of her generation and she’ll be in Rochester soon. Actress Jodie Foster will be awarded the George Eastman Award for her contribution to the art of film.

Rochester loves its movie stars and thanks to George Eastman, the city will forever be connected to film and Hollywood.

Foster has been an actress for more than 45 years. She’s been in many unforgettable roles and inspiring performances. The Oscar and Golden Globe winner joins a list of more than 50 legends who have previously received the award, including Lauren Bacall, Michael Keaton, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.

George Eastman Museum director Bruce Barnes says Foster is deserving of the award as both a film artist and director.  

“She has been extraordinary in her representation of strong women facing adversity ranging from challenging to harrowing," Barnes said. "She’s been great to work with so far and we are looking forward to having her as a guest."

All through May, the museum's Dryden Theater will screen a number of Foster's films, including "Taxi Driver" and "Panic Room."
