ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Memorial services for Rochester civil rights leader, minister and community organizer Franklin Florence get underway on Friday.
Calling hours are being held from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Central Church of Christ on South Plymouth Avenue. A community service will follow from 6 - 9 p.m.
The funeral service for Minister Florence will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
The 88-year-old founded the organization FIGHT, which stands for Freedom, Independence, God, Honor, and Today. He was known for his advocacy work within the African American community.
