ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The city of Rochester and the United Christian Leadership Ministry have partnered to promote information sharing with the Rochester Police Department’s body worn camera program.
The city says the RPD will provide the UCLM with expedited access to public information regarding the police department’s work, with a specific focus on the body worn camera program.
“This partnership will increase public confidence in the work of the Rochester Police Department through an open exchange of information,” Rochester Mayor Evans said in a statement Monday. “I am grateful to United Christian Leadership Ministry for taking on this role and helping us strengthen the trust between the Rochester Police Department and the community it serves.”
As part of the partnership, members of UCLM will be enrolled in citizen-focused training programs on police procedures and the use of body worn cameras. Freedom of Information Law request responses will also be expedited. This includes redacted video footage of use-of-force incidents that generate citizen complaints.
